Economics is the study of how societies produce to meet their needs, of what is produced, by which means and in what quantities and of how are distributed. The main goal of the department is to provide its graduates with a good grasp of economic theory and policy and to show them how statistical and mathematical techiniques are used to solve practical and therotical problems. Graduates of the Department have wide employment opportunuties in both public and private sectors and in the financial instituons. In addition, they can follow a career as a certified public accountant.
